In spite of my opinioned nature, I love getting posts that give me pause, reminding me that not everyone thinks like I do, or who asks, Why not think differently...

I'll get back to this tomorrow when I'm not exhausted.

Dear Urge,

I guess the word authentic pushes my buttons because it crops-up a lot in sixties literature. I've covered that era in my university classes. My impression is that authenticity implied a negative judgment on their parent's values, while their lives were going to be more genuine. The Human Potential Movement by the psychologist gurus supported that attitude. I'm sure there are huge numbers of people who find no meaning or satisfaction in their work, and many to whom the idea never entered their minds. The movement struck me as elitist; it was very fashionable at the time. College kids with limited life experience, could pump themselves up by through judgmentalism. What you said about victimhood was very good. Thanks for your thoughtful comments. Gotta run.
