1L. Where can we find what is new for us?
An important subject to me is; How can we possibly break through our ingrained beliefs, on what the world is all about?
Everything that we know now, is from yesterday, right? Relatively nothing from today. Some people that honor certain scriptures, actually claim that nothing has changed for millennia. In fact it has been all down hill, and we knew-better back then than we do now. The world is now what it is, and those people will claim that without these scriptures, it would be way-way worse - just a jungle.
I think any reasonable person would say that in certain parts, it is just a jungle now, and these "scripture-readers" are not doing anything to change that. Perhaps it’s they that are the ones actually DOING IT. (At least through their inaction.)
I am not going to discard all past-tense thinking. So many good things, but it must have never been put fully into practice, because certain groups are ALWAYS the underdog, and always being oppressed. We justify that saying it is their fault, but what I am asking is how can we include more people in our processes for well being, maybe only one step at a time, but we should see a positive trajectory.
_____________
Something new has to enter, a new thought, a new process, a new theory, or a new institution. Where am I going to find it? Maybe it is not all that difficult.
✓Newness resides where I have not been looking before.
✓To consider another viewpoint, I have to relax on my present viewpoint, that may be to the contrary.
✓Maybe I can hold this investigation as a temporary experiment.
✓To adopt anything I have to change my mind.
✓To change my mind I have to determine that what I think now is erroneous, not optimal, or out of date.
✓I probably will also have to weigh what I will gain, and what I think I will have to give up.
So I may drop it, and decide these investigations are a waste of time. Well, it is not an assured process. You can think about it. (Please comment.)
We can't solve all problems in a first post, so maybe I will leave it at that.
The key take-away that I read is that to invite a new opportunity, I have to "change my mind".
Can I just add something new on top of all my previous conclusions? I think not; I have to discard some things that don't work. (Yeah, but it took me so long to gather it.) Well, that is the challenge of growth. It is called "sunk costs", or all my previous investments. I have to make all that effort good; don't I?
It's Up to You.
